CDBG - Community Development Block Grant
In 1974, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) established the CDBG program to develop viable urban communities, by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment and expand economic opportunities, primarily for persons of low to moderate income.
The City of Baldwin Park recieves approximately $1.5 million annually in CDBG funds and $550,000 in HOME funds.
Per HUD regulations, the project utilizing these funds must meet one of the following National Objectives:
- Prevent or Eliminate Slum and Blight
- Meet an Urgent need (imminent health and safety).
- Benefit Low to Moderate-Income Neighborhoods and Persons.
